Interested in biologically inspired computing

Welcome to my homepage. I am a professor at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES), Islamabad, Pakistan. Currently I am heading the Department of Computer Science. This site is about the research areas I am interested in, my recent research publications and the courses that I usually teach at the university here. This site also gives links to the web pages of some of my former and present students.

My areas of research involve biologically inspired ideas like artificial neural networks and genetic programming. I apply them in the fields of pattern recognition/classification, image processing, computational intelligence and artificial intelligence. Along with my students, we have proposed techniques for genetic optimization of the perceptual shaping of watermarks, kriging based neuro-fuzzy image restoration and combination of classifiers. I am also interested in the use of advanced numerical techniques like finite element analysis and Monte Carlo methods in solving computational physics problems. To see what I currently am doing, please follow the research link.
